It’s Super Bowl time in Houston!
It’s Super Bowl time in Houston! Although most of the post season match-ups this year have been quite the disappointment, this one is set to have nothing but fireworks. This match-up features two offensive juggernauts that have been shredding defenses left and right all year long. The Falcons, led by quarterback Matt Ryan, have averaged a whopping 430 yards per game during the regular season. The receiving core with the likes of Jones and Sanu have averaged over 300 yards a game, giving defensive coordinators nightmares each time they face them. This goes without mentioning the two-headed monster at the running back position with Freeman and Coleman, who have averaged over 120 yards per game against opposing defenses. This much firepower on one side of the ball has really made it difficult to contain all year long. Though the Atlanta defense has gotten the job done, it has been the offenses ability to outscore opponents that has taken them all the way to the big show in Houston.
You didn’t think it would be that easy for Atlanta to walk into Houston and claim their trophy did you? Of course not! On the other side of the ball is the Patriots, who recently changed history with their 7th appearance in the Super Bowl with a triumph over the Steelers Sunday night. The Patriots, led by Tom Brady, who is arguably the greatest quarter back of all time, plans on cooling down the red hot Atlanta Falcons. This quarter back – coach tandem in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick is one for the ages. Bill Belichick in his own right is arguably one of the best coaches of all time, so don’t think for a second he doesn’t have a plan for the Falcons. This Patriots season has been one to watch especially with all the controversy and obstacles they have overcome. This goes without mentioning the loss of Rob Gronkowski, who has been the main focus of the offense for years. Tom Brady, who was out for 4 games after being suspended by the league, came back right where he left off last season. Their offense has put up great numbers as well averaging 390 yards per game in offense, which is no slouch. One of the biggest differences is that the Patriots defense has played much better than the Falcons defense all year long. This is the difference between the two teams, which could be the difference in the outcome on February 5th.
One thing is for sure, there are going to be fireworks coming from two guys, one possibly the leagues MVP, and the other arguably the greatest to ever do it. This Super Bowl is one that you don’t want to miss and one that will be remembered for years to come. Let the games begin!
